Sundays:  July 20, and August 17th 5 pm - 7:15 pm

Cost: $35.00 per class. Pre-registration is required.

You may sign up for one or both of these sessions.

 

The ultimate goal of yoga is union or integration. The Amrit Yoga posture sequence focuses beyond the techniques of mastering a physical yoga posture, to embodying this unification throughout the entire practice, beginning with the very first posture. The release of a postures is an opportunity to experience itʼs ʽsecond halfʼ, where by focusing on bodily sensations, you are drawn deeply into experience of yoga.

Yoga Nidra is a technique that facilitates deep relaxation and meditative awareness. This practice releases the balancing powers of the higher centers of consciousness, for optimal health and well-being.

 

Patti Carbone Wellen B.A., A.A.S., KYT, AYT, is an Amrit Method Yoga Nidra Facilitator as well as a Kripalu Certified Yoga Instructor, living and teaching the heart and depth of yoga. She is a professional Educator, and teaches yoga and pottery on the East End of Long Island and in North Carolina

Introduction to Astrology-

In this workshop you will get a basic understanding of what astrology is, as well as what it is not.  You will learn the meaning of each of the 12 signs, the planets, Sun and Moon, what the houses are and how aspects influence the planets. You will also have a copy of your own chart so you can see how what you learn relates to you on a personal level.   No prior knowledge of astrology is necessary to join us, but those who already have some astrological knowledge are also encouraged to attend.

"Reclaim your Breath!"  Discover the most crucial tool for health and happiness!  Years of stress, fear, and modern living cause our breathing to shut down and become restricted; thus limiting our life's vitality and health.  In this workshop, you will not only learn about your own unique breathing pattern, but what it represents in your life and behavior.  This afternoon is a perfect way to learn about the many aspects of better breathing and the ways you can use your breath to enhance all areas of your life.

Here we are in August!  At this time of the summer, we may hear ourselves say "the summer is flying by".  And with this comes a sense of wanting to hold onto, or slow time down.  There can also be a sense of "leaning forward" (into the future).  Sage Patanjali mentions these "troublesome" mind states in the Yoga Sutras.

 

How can we savor the seasons of our lives? 

In Stephen Cope's book "The Wisdom of Yoga", he explains the difference between "craving" and "savoring".  In savoring, we experience a peaceful happiness.  There is a different relationship with time.  There is no pressure for more.

As we explore our body and breath on and off the mat, may we continue to learn how to savor the moment-to-moment experiences of our lives.
